Mother Nature hit a home run with Steamboat Powdercats over the weekend. She nailed a 17-inch storm that took the operation over the wall, allowing for mid-winter like conditions and big smiles from our guests and guides.
Check out the Steamboat Powdercats blog for image slideshows and more details from this pastweekends trips. Check out their calendar and see that there are dates this coming weekend for you and your crew.
Steamboat Springs area has been getting storms every 3-4 days over the last couple weeks but it wasn't until this 17-incher that Steamboat Powdercats really got the feeling that their season had arrived.
Currently, Steamboat Powdercats is operating in their lower angle terrain in and around their cabin. They are starting to poke into their steeper terrain with road building and guides sussing out the aspects. It may be a week before they start guiding into their true Level III zones.
Steamboat Powdercats would like to thank all who have been patient with this slow start, especially to those guests who had to cancel due to the thin snowpack and those who are scheduled into these steeper zones in the near future.
Backcountry access is always an interesting game and this year, thus far, has been more like a strikeout than a grand slam (remember last year?). Steamboat Powdercats is excited to be back on the field playing the game and can't wait to see you in the coming days.
FYI - Due to the past 6-weeks of lost operational time, Steamboat Powdercats will be staying open thru April!!!!
