SIMS is coming through with a new take on board design, a shape that puts a strong focus on how the rider interacts with the deck. The new SIMS X-Wedge features E-Board technology, a system designed in cooperation with a team in the University of Montreal's biomechanics facility to better align the lower half of a rider's body.
"It is a 2 1/2-degree wedge pretty much molded into the board, and it aligns the rider's hips, knees, and ankles better," says brand manager and director of product design, Marc Vitelli. The idea is that a better alignment of the lower half of the body will help to eliminate leg fatigue and prevent injury.
The board and the wedge, both made of poplar, are cut separately and then assembled with the wedge fully embedded in composite wrap to allow for the best possible flex consistency. The ribs in the wedge also allow a constant flex beneath the bindings and help to reduce the weight of the deck.
Interesting concept, for sure - give 'er a try!
