It's been a powder-filled week in Steamboat, as Mother Nature paid an extended visit to Steamboat-Ski Town, U.S.A. with nearly 2 feet of snow falling at Thunderhead, the resort’s mid-mountain location at 9,080 feet, and 2.5 feet of snow at the summit in the past seven days.

Steamboat is currently in a storm cycle that has yielded 1 inch at mid-mountain and 3 inches at the summit overnight, 11 inches at mid and 18 inches at the summit in the past 72 hours, and 23.75 inches at mid and 30 inches at the summit in the past week. The resort is reporting a 39-inch base at mid-mountain and 43-inch base at the summit on powder/packed powder conditions. Currently 137 trails covering 2,493 acres, or 84% of terrain is open, including the resort’s legendary tree skiing area-Shadows, Closets, Flying Z, Twilight and Triangle 3.
Since January 1st, snow has fallen 9 out of 23 days with 4 of those days recording four or more inches. So far this season at mid-mountain, Steamboat has seen a combined total of 103” (8.6 feet) of snow. Forecasts are calling for additional snow tonight and Tuesday, then again Thursday and Friday before clear skies return for the weekend.
