This past Saturday, September 14th 2013, the first annual Snowboard on the Block North American Film Festival took to the streets of Denver, Colorado. Colorado has played a pivotal role in the snowboard world since the early days of the sport and continues to serve as a gathering place for snow enthusiasts worldwide. Saturday's festival cemented Colorado's place as a key destination to kick the winter off and marked the beginning of a new wild new tradition.
A desire to bring unite snowboarders nationwide to celebrate the tradition of the annual video evolved into a full-on street festival featuring over 25 snowboard films screened on both outdoor and indoor stages. The eclectic group of films ranged from DIY releases from local favorites to some of the biggest productions in all of snowboarding - all screened in one day in front of thousands of eager fans.
To complement, the festival featured over 20 bands across three stages, bringing to Denver some of today's best metal, indie and punk rock bands, multiple DJs and legendary snowboarders as MCs, like Eddie Wall and Marc Frank Montoya. Colorado's own MC Pump kept the crowd hyped and happy with tons of free product giveaways from all the films and the festival's sponsors.
In addition, Snowboard on the Block featured a rail jam with some of the best riders in the game including Andrew Brewer, Ted Borland, Nial Romanek, Brandon Hobush, Dylan Alito, Tim Humphreys, Ozzy Henning, Lucas Magoon, and this year's winner, Scotty Vine.
