Mother Nature freshened up the slopes for Purgatory's opening day, today, Nov. 18.
Purgatory welcomed skiers and snowboarders back to the resort at 9am today, Saturday, Nov. 18. Skiers and snowboarders started lining up at 5am, some even cooking bacon and eggs on the ski beach in anticipation of making first chair for the opening of ski season.
The Southwestern resort celebrated opening day of the ski season with a unique offering - skiing and mountain biking! Lifts 1 and 2 are open for skiing and Lift 4 is being utilized for lift-served mountain bike trails this weekend.
Many riders had both their mountain bike gear and skis (see pictures) -- combining two of Durango's favorite activities on the same day!
On Monday, the ski resort will just offer skiing and snowboarding (not mountain biking), and it is now open daily for the season. Discounted lift tickets are available at the Ticket Window.
