NEW TERRAIN OPENING AND NIGHT RIDING AT STEAMBOAT

New terrain and night operations at Steamboat this weekend. Sunshine and South Peak lifts started turning this morning with access to Baby Powder, Fawn, Spike, Spur Run Road and Tomahawk. Night skiing and riding will open for a special two night premiere tonight, Friday, December 12th with the Christie Peak Express Lift. The newly open terrain brings the resort total to 67 trails and 891 acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain and 10 chairlifts.

“It’s that time of year when the ski resort and town start bustling,” said Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer. “We are excited to open more terrain in conjunction with the start of night skiing and riding," said Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer.

Mountain crews will turn their attention to additional terrain in the popular Priest Creek area, while focusing on key snowmaking areas as temperatures allow. The forecast is calling for a chance of snow early next week, with favorable snowmaking temperatures through the weekend.

Night operations is the first event in a week of celebrations for Passholder Appreciation Week. Season, Steamboat 6 and Steamboat 15 passholders can ski and ride under the lights tonight for free. Nightly lift tickets are priced at $35 for adults and will be available both evenings.  Passholder Appreciation week continues throughout the remainder of week with special First Tracks, Meet and Greet and a holiday mixer at Mountain Outfitters. The week also incorporates enhanced discounts at mountain and base area restaurants, SnowSports School, retail outlets, The Grand Spa and The Steamboat Grand Hotel.
