Battery621 opened for business just about one short year ago. And what a year it's been. It's finally time to hold a GRAND OPENING, our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, and kick off the first annual LAUNCH OF WINTER with vigor. While some people in our fine country dread the onset of shorter, colder days and piles of snow, we are DENVER, we are COLORADO, and WE LOVE WINTER. Bring it on! Please join in and celebrate with us!
This celebration will happen October 4th – 8th through events ranging from Subaru debuting the all new 2012 Impreza, to Icelantic Skis presenting their '11-12 line of skis, the nnouncement of the SI Snowsport Entrepreneur Award, live music, engaging panel discussions with some fantastic like minded personalities, and art installations. Many great companies from within Battery621 and partners such as Vail Resorts, Loveland, Echo Mountain, Tommy Knocker, Create Denver, CMH heli-skiing, Muscle Milk and Smashburger all coming together in the name of love. That love being – SNOW!
On Tuesday, October 4th, Something Independent will announce the winner of the inaugural SI Snowsport Entrepreneur Award. This award will recognize a Colorado company that embodies that certain spirit of entrepreneurism and shows us how the Colorado snowsport culture inspires their ideas and influences their business. The night of Thursday, October 6th will be focused around The Business of Fun event where a panel of fine and creative humans talk about how they followed their passions through their career path rather than the bottom line. Preston Strout, former pro shred and current owner of High Cascade Snowboard Camp, will "moderate" the panel. If anyone in this world has combined business and fun, it is Mr. Preston G. Strout. Following the panel discussion there will be smaller breakout sessions and the ability to interact one on one with a mix of individuals. It's FREE, pre-register on the Business of Fun Facebook page.
On Friday, October 7th, Battery621 opens its doors to the public during the eXXXtreme First Friday (really... THRICE the extremeness). Attendees will be treated to a slew of visual stimulus throughout the course of the night: The Public Works brings out the best of over two decades of photographic pursuits printed on mixed medium, Icelantic Skis will unveil their new '11-12 line of skis to the public, the all-new 2012 Subaru Impreza will be debuted for the first time in Colorado, live music from Filthy Children will ensure there is no lull in the fun. You can expect lots of sampling and giveaways from an array of companies that are not just "sponsors", they are "partners" in our collective love of the winter season.
Hang in there, because on Saturday October 8th, Battery621 cranks up the snow fever level to 11. The day begins with a co-sponsored passport art walk throughout the Sante Fe Arts District. Parents can join their little rippers on a stampgathering hunt down Sante Fe Drive, ending at Battery621. Once inside, Spyder's kids line will be on display, kids can add their artistic touch to some Icelantic ski designs and influence the future of sliding on snow, and be treated to a Warren Miller movie the cap things off. Later, when Apres would normally start at the slopes, it starts at Battery621 with a movie premiere extravaganza. The meat and potatoes will be provided by Capita, Poor Boyz, Never Summer, Sandbox and Level 1 and capped off by MSP's new movie "Attack of La Nina". And just to add to the sheer awesomeness of this night, the festivities are all completely FREE.
By the time the clock hits 12 and Sunday morning is upon us, we hope every attendee of TLOW wakes with up with their ski boots and snow tires on and is ready to shred. TLOW is aiming to set the bar high. We're all in this together, unless it's a powder day.
