Despite the lack of snow, Colorado proved once again to be ahead of the game today with the official opening of Copper Mountain's superpipe, making it the first to open in the nation. The US Grand Prix held at Copper Mountain, normally one of the first major competitions of the season, isn't happening until early January 2013, but that didn't stop the crew at Copper's efforts. Anyone who has been up to Copper this season has seen the snow guns roaring, the snow piling up and the cats moving it around. Drive down I70 past Copper Mountain and you will be able to see the infamous superpipe at the base of the center village. This isn't the first time Copper had the first big competition pipe open in the nation, and we are sure it won't be the last.
