Pulling up to Bull of the Woods, to the spot where people were parking, you would think there was a house party going on. After a 30 minute walk down a muddy road (with camera and beers in hand) we were greeted by the screams of over 100 people cheering on the mayhem. This isn't like any other contest you've been to.
Bull of the Woods is was rider built and rider judged. Basically people were all having sessions at different zones and when a clear winner was established then the group would move on. After that, a notebook was passed along to all the riders and votes were made for finals.
Finals were late in the afternoon, well after most had already been broken, tired and sore from the hiking and drinking all day. Regardless, the finals were crazy and the handful of riders that got to ride were throwing down! Matt Coughlin was hands down the winner of this event. When you see the edits start popping up it will be clear that he was the Bull of the Woods.
There are too many people to thank for putting on this event. A lot of volunteers put in crazy hours so that everyone could come shred! Thanks for inviting me and if you have the chance to attend a future event you will not be disappointed! This is what snowboarding should be.
